RITUAL 9: Shaving Down There 101

1. Use warm or hot water and soap to clean the skin. Personally, I'm a big fan of Dr. Bonner's Soap Collection. This organic soap uses natural ingredients to gently cleanse - which makes it an ideal soap for those sensitive areas. Cleansing your skin thoroughly will help your hair soften and allow for a smoother shave. It will also help you avoid nicks!

2. Exfoliating your skin will also help for a closer shave. Use a gentle exfoliant, like our Full-Body Exfoliant, to remove dead skin cells and help lift hair follicles.

Make sure to use a fresh blade for optimal results! Learn about our Replenishment Program to avoid ever running out of stock.

3. Once you have lathered on your shaving cream, move the blade in the same direction of hair growth - and then in the opposite direction. Avoid shaving the same area as this often causes irritation.

Pro tip: Use an all-natural shaving cream to avoid dryness. Aerosol shave creams often contain drying chemicals that can leave your skin feeling slick, but not hydrated.

4. Rinse skin thoroughly and pat dry with a soft towel. I highly recommend Gilden's Tree Waffle Weave Towels because they are 100% natural cotton and super absorbent. Plus, they come in a variety of colors to brighten up your space!
5. Apply a light moisturizer or oil, like our Post-Shave Body Oil, to help smooth and calm your skin.

6. For a few hours post-shave, wear 100% cotton underwear that doesn't hug your skin too tightly. This will help your skin breathe and reduce the chance of ingrown hairs. I'm almost always in UNIQLO'S Cotton Hip Huggers, but for those fancier moods I love my Cosabella's
With love,
