RITUAL 7: 5 Habits for Healthy Skin

This time of year, my skin tends to mimic the ups and downs of the changing weather. But, I am taking this social distancing as a chance to revitalize my skincare routine! Here are a few daily habits that have helped keep my skin smooth and glowing:

1. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Water plays an essential role in maintaining a healthy body, and that goes for healthy skin too! Drinking plenty of water will help rid your body of any bad toxins which can improve the complexion of your skin. We also tend to retain water when we aren’t getting enough of it, so staying hydrated will help to reduce puffiness.
2. DON'T SKIP THE SPF
When the sun isn’t shining, it can be easy to forget about applying sunscreen. But no matter the weather, UV rays can still have an effect on your skin’s overall condition - which can result in sagging skin, wrinkles, and hyper-pigmentation. I’m a big fan of COOLA SPF Products because they are made with natural ingredients and rich in antioxidants. Plus, it smells heavenly!
3. ADD VITAMIN C TO YOUR ROUTINE
Vitamin C helps fight sun damage and boost the protection of your SPF. It will also help to brighten your skin and establish a more even skin tone. When I need a Vitamin C boost, I always turn to Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum. It’s lightweight, but powerful!
4. GET YOUR BEAUTY REST
Getting enough sleep is another big factor when it comes to your skin’s health. Stress and anxiety cause a dysfunction in your immune system which can negatively effect your skin’s vitality. To keep your skin looking young and fresh, make sure to get at least 8 hours of sleep each night!
5. OPT FOR ALL NATURAL
Natural ingredients tend to be more gentle on your skin than chemicals or sulfates. Using all-natural skincare can help you avoid any skin irritation, redness, or allergic reactions.
When researching ingredients for the MAVE Shave Collection, this was something we really looked into. What I learned was that many aerosol shaving creams contain drying chemicals to help give that rich, foamy texture. The downside was that this chemical is the reason your skin can feel slick and dry post-shave. Instead of using those chemicals in our Shave Cream, I opted for natural, hydrating ingredients - like shea butter and jojoba oil - that help keep your skin moisturized all day.
With love,
Marisa
